As a scientist, my interests lie at the intersection of data science, operations research, and communication systems. I work on machine learning and artificial intelligence tools and concepts on a daily basis. I am interested in AI/ML for optimization and decision aid systems, in addition to ethics, governance, safety, and security. 

I am fascinated by all the things that I don't know. I enjoy learning, writing, lecturing, and mentoring. I am also interested in psychology, neuroscience, management, and finance. My first language is Portuguese. English comes second, and Python is the one I use the most these days. 

The 'Learner' is my most prominent (Clifton) strength, followed by the 'Includer' and the 'Restorative'. That is to say that I am energized by solving problems and by learning new skills, while being mindful and intentional about inclusion. I am constantly searching for ways to make a difference.
